Getting Google Adwords Certified
When I first got hired here at Northeast Web Design, I was told that I was expected to get Google Adwords certified, and become a Google Advertising Professional. Well, I put that statement to work and began figuring out how to do just that!
How do I get Adwords certified?
First off, you have to have met the requirements for the program. I found it easiest to understand the features of your Adwords account and how to best optimize your clients’ results by studying key topics in the learning center. After meeting all requirements to take the test, the next thing to do was study. That’s where I found things to be a little tricky.
Wordpress post_pass_required Function
So the situation arose where we needed to implement some dynamic content on one of our clients websites. Easy enough task. However, the pages that needed this dynamic content were pages that were password protected. The question at hand at this point was simple conceptually and rocky at first. How could we display content on a password protected page ONLY when the user was logged in?
Wordpress Multiple Loops
There are certain situations in which using more than one loop in a page or post is essential. One of the most common situations is having a loop INSIDE of another loop. Let’s take a look at how we can accomplish this…
Free Wordpress Theme – Released
Always trolling the internet for new stuff, I came across this theme the other day. As you can see, its simple and elegant looking. I decided to use it for my band’s upcoming website but, the theme was not quite there yet. After spending a little time with it I managed to get it to a new level.
Let’s take a look…
Wordpress CMS Plugins
So, Wordpress is great. There are so many things that you can do with it that its versatility extends beyond a blogging tool and crosses into CMS territory. Northeast Web Design does a multitude of Wordpress installations on a frequent basis and use it as the foundation for a multitude of our clients. Being that this process takes a bit of time (however not much) we took steps to further streamline our business processes and create a bundled version of Wordpress CMS Plugins.
Utilizing the functions.php Wordpress template
One of the cooler things about Wordpress is the many, many ways you can extend its functionality and bend it to your will. From creating themes, to plugins, you can pretty much use Wordpress to do just about anything you can think of and then some. Diving deeper into that concept we’ll take a look a the functions.php template file and how to use it.

Google Chrome Features
Yesterday a new grade A browser was released – Google Chrome. Being a web developer I had to download it. After playing with it for a few minutes I noticed a few things about it both good and bad. Please note that since the browser is only 26 hours old and is still in BETA some of these opinions are slightly biased.
Insane Speed – With the whole gigahertz war in a state of suspended animation and software not taking advantage of multi-core architecture, this is an important factor for both consumers and developers. Chrome loads noticeably faster than ANY other grade A browser out there. It also renders pages extremely fast being that it uses Safari’s WebKit rendering engine. This is a cool thing!
Desktop Based ‘Web Applications’ – WOAH! Wait a second, this is a great idea! In fact its soooo great that it doesn’t even sound like its completely original. That’s right its not. This concept seems to take its conceptual queues from Adobe AIR, but it simplifies the whole equation. I like the idea that I can click on Gmail on my desktop and Gmail opens up and now looks like an actual desktop application instead of a browser window. Very useful feature.
